Murali Kamma’s debut book, Not Native: Short Stories of Immigrant Life in an In-Between

World, published in 2019 by Wising Up Press, won an Independent Publisher Book Award. Almost all the stories included in that collection, as well as the new collection, originally appeared in print or online journals. He is the managing editor of Khabar magazine (www.Khabar.com), which has been in business for three decades. Before moving to Atlanta over two decades ago, he lived in the state of New York, where he studied at SUNY Buffalo. He is a graduate from Loyola College, India.

Kamma has interviewed Anita Desai, Salman Rushdie, Chitra Divakaruni, M.G. Vassanji, Amitav Ghosh, Pico Iyer, Shashi Tharoor, William Dalrymple, Pankaj Mishra, Ram Guha, and other authors. Besides being an occasional contributor to the New York Journal of Books, he writes a Book Matters column for Khabar every month.
