Nairobi-born Wanjiru Koinange’s debut novel The Havoc Of Choice chronicles the experiences of a political family during the 2007-2008 post-election violence in Kenya. Wanjiru began her career as a talent and events manager for some of East Africa’s renowned artists and art practitioners. She has created and curated events and festivals that have made its mark on Kenya’s cultural landscape. Wanjiru has a Bachelors degree in Journalism and Literature from the United States International University and also a Masters in Creative Writing from the University of Cape Town. She has been a regional correspondent for Commonwealth Writers and has also written for Chimurenga, SlipNet and True Love Magazine (SA & KE). When she is not writing, Wanjiru is exploring how art may be used as a catalyst for social change. She is the founder of Book Bunk, an organisation that restores and renovates old libraries and installs new modern library spaces into public spaces in Kenya.
